What is the programme about? The Higher Certificate in Arts in Business Studies with Events will appeal to students who wish to pursue a management career in the event industry. Graduates of this programme will have practical business know-how grounded in the event sector as this programme provides a broad introduction to event management principles and practice.
On completion of year 2 students will have the option to move into the BA (Hons.) in Business Studies with Event Management.
This programme contains a significant work placement in Year 3, giving students the chance to take classroom knowledge to the workplace. The programme has professional links with many of the Event Industry organisations and students have had significant success gaining employment on completion of the course.
Who is the programme suited to? The course is very suited to students who have a keen interest in meeting people, organising events and working as a part of a team. This programme also offers students the opportunity to travel and work in many different parts of this ever growing industry namely events, sports, tourism, hospitality, and corporate business. Overall, it is ideal for anyone who has the responsibility for planning and organising events or those who wish to become involved in this activity. Top 3 Reasons 1. Year 1 Business Management for the Service Industry, Media Communications & Personal Development, Research & Information Technology, Event Operations & Event Planning, Corporate and Entertainment Events Year 2 Business Decision Making & Applications, Event Law & Administration, Principles of Marketing, Information Technology & E-Commerce, Applied Event Management. Entry Requirement Leaving Certificate: A minimum of 5 Passes in Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and English/Irish. Foundation Level Mathematics at grade B2 or higher is acceptable as meeting the Mathematics requirement for this programme. See ‘Special Entry Requirements’ section.
