Dear Diary

Dear Diary…a reflection on the experience of and recovery from cancer.

The ‘Dear Diary…’ project is a unique collaboration between a researcher, a cancer survivor and an artist! As part of a doctoral research into how women recover from cancer, one of the participants unexpectedly arrived with a diary, which tells the story of her year and a half journey from cancer diagnosis to recovery. The artist Sheila Wood uses watercolour and mixed media to magically bring the significant moments of that journey to life. This artwork will be displayed in the Tudor Artisan Hub, Carrick On Suir from Wednesday October 3rd until Saturday October 13th.

The official ‘Dear Diary…’ launch will take place on Friday October 5th from 7pm till 9pm at the Tudor Artisan Hub. This will be a very special evening where Noeleen Doherty will read excerpts from her diary. Sheila Wood will talk about the artistic process behind the art she has created. The researcher – Marie Walsh, from Limerick Institute of Technology has been working with women in remission from cancer for the last 3 years. She will share what women have to say about how they recovered from cancer. Space is very limited so please reserve your seat at the launch by contacting the Tudor Artisan Hub at 051 640 921 and Email: tudorartisanhub@gmail.com

October is breast cancer awareness month. This installation will move to the South Tipp Arts Centre in Clonmel from the 16th to the 31st of October. The ‘Dear Diary…’ project is taking place as part of the as part of the South Tipperary Positive Mental Health Festival, which takes place from Friday October 5th until Saturday October 13th, check out: https://www.facebook.com/SouthTipperaryPositiveMentalHealthFestival/ https://www.facebook.com/SouthTipperaryPositiveMentalHealthFestival/
