LIT Library Hosts Visit of Staff from Universities in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine
LIT Library were very proud to host the visit of Librarians and Academic staff from universities in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine recently. The representatives visited Limerick under the ERASMUS + International Credit Mobility funding programme.
The purpose of the visit was to facilitate exchange of experience and knowledge sharing about developments and best practices in the Library and Information Science field focussing on areas such as Information Literacy and library modernisation. The visitors were from some of the largest universities in the Middle East.

Participating in the visit were representatives from Lebanese University based in Beirut, Lebanon which has over 80,000 students; An Najah National University based in Nablus, Northern West Bank, Palestine with over 20,000 students and Mutah University which has a student population of over 17,000 students, based near the city of Karak- 140 kilometeres south of Amman- the capital of Jordan.

This visit is an important step in establishing formal partnerships to work together, fostering further collaboration in European Union projects between LIT Library and universities in this region.
LIT Library aim to work with these universities to apply for further funding in large scale European Union funding programmes for the development and modernisation of libraries and furthering of Information Literacy in this Region.
