LIT Gearing up for Science Week​​​​​

LIT is once again a partner in SFI-funded Limerick Festival of Science for Science Week, which runs from November 10th - 17th. We will have a number of events both on the LIT campus and in the community.

SCIENCE WEEK EVENTS 2019 - FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

EVENT 1:
Ugly Animal Roadshow – a fun show on “ugly” animals:
Date: Tuesday 12th November 2019
Session times: 9.45am, 11.30am and 1.15pm
Length of session: 60 minutes
Audience: 5th or 6th class students only


EVENT 2:
Fantastic DNA! Cell Explorers Workshop
Date: Wednesday 13th November 2019
Session times: 10.00am, 12.00pm
Length of session: 75 minutes
Audience: 5th and 6th class students only 


EVENT 3:
Animal Magic Show
Date: Thursday 14th November 2019
Session times: 10am, 11.30am and 1pm
Length of session: 60 minutes
Audience: 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class students only


EVENT 4:
Treadwell’s Naturally Wild Dino Show
Date: Friday 15th November 2019
Session times: 10am, 11.30am and 1pm
Length of session: 60 minutes
Audience: 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class students only

TITAN II Interactive Truck

Titan II, a 35-tonne interactive truck, brings innovation to life by providing a hands-on experience of engineering and technology used in industry today. It showcases the latest innovations such as Raspberry Pi, 3D printing, robotics, the Internet of Things and thermal imaging, plus virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

One hour visits must be pre-booked. Times TBC.

Dale Treadwell – Dino Shows

Dale Treadwell of Naturally Wild is well known for his RTEjr Television slots with Albie the Why Guy and Dustin the Turkey featuring wildlife to be found in Irish back gardens. Dinos Down under takes us back to Dale’s childhood back garden of Australia but with a twist, it is from 100 million years ago!! Dale will be joined by some realistic Cretaceous Creatures on this interactive show.
