Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI) takes a national perspective on the knowledge transfer (KT) system in Ireland. KTI works with business, investors, universities, Institutes of Technology, State research organisations, research funders and government agencies to maximise State funded technology, ideas and expertise getting into the hands of business to drive innovation. KTI is located in Enterprise Ireland (EI) and funded by EI with co-financing from the Irish Universities Association (IUA). The KTI website provides additional information on funding available and what to expect when engaging with a higher education institute such as the Limerick Institute of Technology.

The National Intellectual Property Protocol 2016 is a guide to transferring government-funded research from higher education institutions, and other state-funded research performing organisations in Ireland, to industry.
The transfer of knowledge and technology at LIT adheres to the guidelines as set out in the LIT Intellectual Property Policy.
