Higher Certificate in Civil & Environmental Engineering

This programme provides a broad base of core modules applicable to the design and/ or construction of civil engineering projects, bearing in mind the environmental aspects involved. The programme enables a thorough understanding of the scientific, technological and economic principles of Civil & Environmental Engineering, with particular reference to environmental issues, site practice, design office practice, quality, safety and value for money.
What are the entry requirements?
Applicants must have 5 O6/H7 grades or higher at Ordinary Level in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects. Two of these subjects must include Mathematics and a Language (English or Irish).
Applicants presenting QQI FET/FETAC qualifications must hold a Full Level 5 Award totalling 120 Credits.
Applicants presenting qualifications other than those mentioned above will be assessed on an individual basis.
Mature Applicants (i.e. over 23) are exempt from the normal entry requirements.

Civil Engineering Construction & Public Health, Civil Engineering Surveying, Mathematics & Computer Engineering Applications, Structural Engineering Design & Detailing, Soils & Concrete, Plus 1 Elective.
Are there opportunities for further study?
Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to progress on to level 7 and level 8 programmes in the Built Environment department.
