This programme is ideal if you want to build an Electronics Engineering career in Design, Manufacturing, Servicing, Marketing or Consultancy. As a graduate, you will have both practical and academic expertise in the area of electronic engineering, telecommunications and in computer and networking systems. The programme includes practical and project-based learning in well-equipped modern laboratories.

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must have 5 O6/H7 grades or higher at Ordinary Level in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects. Two of these subjects must include Mathematics and a Language (English or Irish). Grade O5 in Maths is required. 

Applicants presenting QQI FET/FETAC qualifications must hold a Full Level 5 Award totalling 120 Credits. 

Applicants presenting qualifications other than those mentioned above will be assessed on an individual basis. 

Mature Applicants (i.e. over 23) are exempt from the normal entry requirements.

Electronics 1, Electrical Technology, Engineering Science, Engineering Mathematics 1, Introduction to C Programming, Technical Communications, and a Mini Project (this is a small group project).

Year 2    

Applied Electronics, Engineering Mathematics 2, Telecommunications & Networking Principles, Digital & Microcontrollers, Advanced C Programming, Electronics Project & CAD (Computer Aided Design).

Are there opportunities for further study?

Graduates are eligible to progress to the one-year add-on Level 7 Bachelor of Electronic Engineering programme. This programme is ideal if you want a career as an Electronics Engineer working in Design, Manufacturing, Servicing, Sales, Marketing or Programming.
