Flexible & Professional
The aim of this programme is to introduce participants to a wide variety of moulding and casting techniques. Each participant will gain an appreciation and understanding of the fundamental elements involved in mould making. Participants will gain experience in the use of various moulding materials and processes and develop proficiencies in creating multiples of an object. Handouts will be distributed at the beginning of each class, containing diagrams and materials information, followed by a discussion outlining procedures and technique. Participants will gain experience in the use of silicone, alginate, wax and plaster casting. Casting strategies and contemporary art practice will be explored to realise a piece to be cast in plaster, wax, jesmonite and resin.
