Using a group of varying objects/ still life assemblages the students will be introduced to a wide variety of drawing & water-based painting techniques.
Through short, practical drawing exercises at the start of each class we then move on explore the key elements of line, texture, colour, while also exploring & using a wide variety of materials/processes.
Through structured lesson plans the students would develop skills and confidence in the areas of Drawing, Painting, Observation and Visual Research.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal academic entry requirements. This course is aimed at those with some experience in painting skills, but who wish to expand their existing practice. Students will also be required to provide certain materials. Further information on materials required will be issued upon request.
What modules will I study?
Content includes painting tools/techniques, colour use/ application, painting methods and mixed media. Students will develop their ideas through research and experimentation while also working on a personal project. Students will be encouraged to experiment, develop ideas, and establish a creative approach. The use of sketchbooks is also to be highly encouraged. Through practical exercises students will explore painting as a means of recording, observing and analysis for visual development. They will explore drawing and painting techniques and processes, experimenting with a range of diverse materials. Through painting exercises students will develop hand-eye co-ordination and select/consider the appropriate use of methods and materials.
10 weeks, 2 hours per week.
Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
The next proposed start date is Wednesday 30th September 2020.
Continuous evaluation will take place with final evaluation on completion of programme. Each participant should produce at least three to four small finished works, although the work would be ‘process led’ rather than product orientated.
A Certificate of Completion will be issued to eligible participants
