This programme will give a broad overview effective communication, presentation, and public speaking skills necessary for recent graduates, and those in employment, who are expected to deliver presentations in-person and online as part of their work.

It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and essential skills required when presenting projects to clients or teams in a corporate environment and public speaking at webinars and live conference events. In response to industry feedback internationally and nationally, the programme aims to offer prospective students essential communication and presentation skills such as structuring a presentation, understanding the needs of the audience, delivering a key message, story-telling techniques, oral and visual communication techniques, Online presentation skills.

Other important elements of the programme includes, using visual aids, overcoming nerves, self-confidence, presenting yourself professionally, preparation for public speaking.

Upon completion, this programme will enable of participants to deliver effective presentations to clients and colleagues, ensuring they are at forefront of industry needs.

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must possess a primary level 8 honours degree or equivalent.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) / Special Case Registrations: Prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should submit their application online, upload their most relevant qualifications and then email Flexible@lit.ie to request RPL consideration.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Delivery

This Certificate will be delivered via blended learning comprising of online sessions and in-house workshops.

Practical Workshops will take place on four Saturdays, in Limerick during the Semester, the proposed dates TBC.

Students are required to have access to PC, webcam, and Mic adequate to participate in online lectures and tutorials.

What will the time commitment be?

Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college.  The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.
