This course is ideal for students wishing to build a career in the music and audio production industry. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills needed to perform at a high-level in a number of modern technical environment, including: recording studios, video editing suites and in live theatre.

What are the entry requirements?

Leaving Certificate
A minimum of 4 O6/H7 grades in Leaving Certificate subjects, including English/Irish.

Foundation Level Mathematics at grade F2 or higher is acceptable as meeting the Mathematics requirement for this programme.

Mature Applicants
Candidates applying as mature applicants may be required to attend an interview and may be requested to take an aptitude test to prove their suitability for a place on this programme.

    This module is intended to introduce basic musical concepts that will apply in common music production situations. The indicative content of this module focuses on the concepts, not the context. The context and the music used to illustrate these concepts will be derived from some initial exercises with the students of each year. By illustrating concepts as much as possible within music that is valued by and familiar to the students the concepts should be more memorable. The concepts covered will also be reinforced through listening exercises, reading and writing notation in several forms, and through some basic keyboard exercises.
