Athena Swan at LIT

Athena SWAN at LIT

LIT is to prepare an application for an Athena SWAN Bronze Award . Such awards recognise a solid foundation for eliminating gender bias and developing an inclusive culture that values all staff. This will require LIT to demonstrate an assessment of gender equality in the institution and development of a four-year plan that builds on this assessment. To carry out this assessment and prepare a four-year plan, LIT has established an Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team and working groups.

Membership of LITs’ Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team:
Terms of Reference:
  • Collect, analyse and benchmark relevant institutional data (both qualitative and quantitative) on gender equality and intersectionality across the Institute.
  • Engage and consult with staff and students on equality and diversity across the Institute.
  • Reflecting on a range of quantitative and qualitative data to identify both challenges and opportunities with regards to gender equality
  • Developing an evidence-based, comprehensive action plan to address challenges or take advantage of opportunities identified
  • Measure and demonstrate the impact of previous / ongoing gender equality activity across the Institute.
  • Act as ‘champions’ for the Athena SWAN project in their department/area/campus, raising awareness and inspiring engagement of staff and students.
