TUS, along with Education in Ireland, are holding a Global Greening competition for St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, and we want you to get involved! This initiative rolls out across the world every year for St Patrick’s Day on the 17th March, when a host of buildings, sites and universities from Sydney to San Francisco turn green to mark Ireland’s National Day. Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening has gone from strength to strength achieving 725 iconic landmarks and sites in 71 countries around the world in 2021. 2022 is the 13th year of the Global Greening and it is with great anticipation that we hope the world will join us once again and go Green.
With your support we aim to bring positivity to students around the world and remind them what a great place Ireland is to study and visit.
Prizes
Education in Ireland is offering two scholarships; one to the value of €8,000, which also includes a complementary return flight to Ireland. To enter, students need to follow the ‘greening’ steps outlines above and below.
TUS is also offering a partial scholarship of €4,250 (half of the tuition fee for graduates of Colleges Ontario of €8,500), to a student who has an offer through one of our Canadian pathways for September 2022. EI will be offering complementary return flights as part of this competition. TUS has emailed all students who currently have an offer for September 2022 through our degree pathways to encourage them to enter by sharing their ‘greening’ photos. It is also important that after a student shares their photo, that they email international@lit.ie to ensure that we can keep track of all entrants.
How to get Involved
Getting involved is easy, students and college staff will need to upload a ‘greening’ video or photo to their Instagram account and tag @tus.international, @eduireland @educationinireland. We will also ask you to use the hashtags #globalgreening and #tus. You can also arrange for your college, a campus building or an online lecture or event to go ‘green’. A greening can, but does not have to, involve lights, and it can be through clothes, hats, virtual backgrounds, paint, hairspray - the only limitation is your imagination and that of your students. There is no limit to the number of applications per University or Institution.
Timing
Upload your Greening videos any time between the 1st March – 17th March. Winners will be notified by the 28th March 2022. We hope that you will join us for Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening this year.
