What is HCI funding?

Announced as part of Budget 2019, the primary objective of the Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Pillar 1 is to enable the higher education system to respond to changes in both skills requirements and technology.

HCI Pillar 1 is a government education fund and will run from 2020 - 2023. It is aimed at upskilling and reskilling graduates with postgraduate, industry relevant skills for emerging technologies. HCI Pillar 1 postgraduate programmes will provide between 90% and 100% funding support to upskill for future job prosperity.

Who is it for?

These HCI postgraduate conversion programmes are aimed at recent level 8 graduates, employed professionals, those returning to education and unemployed applicants who have been in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for at least 9 months prior to application.

How much are the fees?

These postgraduate programmes are heavily subsidised and offer a minimum of 90% HCI funding for all successful applicants.

Why complete a postgraduate programme?

  • Upskill for career progression and future job prosperity
  • Gain a recognised, professional qualification
  • Programmes developed in collaboration with industry
  • Avail of substantial funding support

How will programmes be delivered?

The majority of these programmes are delivered in a 'blended format' ie. a mix of online and classroom delivery. Blended Learning programmes can have between 20% and 80% of the content delivered online with the remaining involving either lectures / practical / tutorials delivered at one of our TUS Midlands Midwest campuses. This allows our students to work and study at a time and pace suitable to them.

Please contact us on Springboard@lit.ie if you have any queries on these HCI Postgraduate programmes.
