This exciting course offers students the chance to study in the dynamic and expressive world of animation & motion design. The course develops creative individuals with artistic design skills and vision to produce a wide variety of animation and designs for screen.
What are the entry requirements?
Entry into Animation & Motion Design is by competition and selection during LC110 First Year Art & Design (Common Entry).
Applications will also be considered for Advanced Entry from those with a FETAC Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) and/or relevant prior learning.
What modules will I study?
Animation & Motion Design, Life Drawing, Perspective / Observational Drawing, Traditional Animation, Digital / Non-Digital Skills, Cinematography, Model-making, Stop-Motion, Scriptwriting, Storyboarding. Critical & Contextual Studies and seminars in Professional Practice support your practical work.
Students gain essential experience in the work placement that occurs in the second semester. Design skills are advanced through Digital Animation, 3D, Model-making, Editing & Visual Effects, Graphic Design for Screen.
A largely self-initiated programme of study leading towards a major project for the end of year graduate exhibition. Students are encouraged to develop their own unique style together with learning industry ready skills.
Are there opportunities for further study?
Graduates are eligible to apply to Level 9 and 10 postgraduate programmes within LSAD and elsewhere.
