Title: 3D Content Creation
Credits: 10 Credits
read more »This module facilitate learners in the creation of industry standard modelled textured and lit scenes that showcase both the technical and creative factors central to the creation of convincing and artistically pleasing shots and sequences.
The aim of this module is to broaden the learners to explore the advanced techniques required for the modelling, texturing, lighting, shading and rendering of 3d scenes models for use in the entertainment industries.
The ultimate goal of this module is introduce methodologies and techniques that will not only allow the learner to create beautifully detailed 3D assets but to do so in a way that is optimized efficient and flexible enough to satisfy the script the art director and directors criteria.
Title: Compositing for 3D Animation, & Visual Effects
Credits: 10 Credits
read more »Compositing is where a variety of disparate elements are brought together into a visually cohesive whole. As such the composite is the destination of a range of assets. Even when the result is not intended to be photo real, it is vital that the final image is cohesive and seamless so evidence of its construction does not detract from story or meaning.
Compositing work is often complex, requiring a keen artistic eye and technical problem solving skills.
Learners will develop their understanding of Image manipulation math, and multi pass lighting.
The learner progress’ through the module accumulating techniques, from the efficient design of project set-ups and flexible reusable templates, building flow graphs to anticipate changes as they might be guided by an art director, compositing supervisor or director.
The ultimate goal of this module is to allow learners to develop methods by which they can create technically and aesthetically excellent sequences of composited imagery.
Module Aims
Give students a grounding in 2D pixel math operations, allowing for more advanced under the bonnet manipulation of images. This instills in students a practical understanding of the building blocks of 2D Compositing.
Learners will explore and develop their ability to make artistic judgments, and work within contexts of ambiguity, uncertainty and unfamiliarity. They are encouraged to understand and appreciate that compositing as part of a larger visual language and is closely related to cinematography, photography, fine art, lighting and colour.
Encourage students to dissect what makes a shot look right and visually coherent.
Using a broad range for enhanced skills learners are able to address specific feedback notes
Conduct informed research into the pipeline requirements of project.
They will develop example of demo reel quality work that best express their compositing skillsets.

read more »In this module we will look at creative project from the viewpoint of a producer. Digital creative projects are notoriously difficult to deliver on time and on budget. We look at issues of how to plan and schedule a project according to the resources available, including, by identifying inputs/output requirements, asset management, workflows, artists strengths/weakness, and asset/time tracking, bidding, budgeting and timescale.
We encourage learners to critical analyse the methodologies of funding models and how projects are bid for and budgeted, the growth of a global entertainment market, work conditions, freelance or contract, tax subsidies outsourcing and other issues that are relevant in the industry currently. This module also explores and identifies work placement opportunities including opportunities within learners current workplace.
