My name is Alan Mulry and I am in my second year studying Mechanical Engineering.
I chose Mechanical Engineering at TUS because I always had a keen interest in making and designing. After attending various open days and seeing how practical the course was, I immediately knew TUS was the college for me.
When I started my studies on the TUS Moylish campus in Limerick city, I was surprised to find how easy it was to get around and how friendly the staff and other students were. From the very beginning, I found it easy to make new friends and chat with my lecturers. The facilities on the Moylish campus are exceptional. It’s in a great location and has a really friendly environment.
The things I like most about my course are the practical elements. Of course, there are theory aspects to the course which are really well taught, but it’s not always about putting pen to paper. I find that each aspect of the course is related to real life applications which we learn about through experiments, testing and analysis.
In the upcoming years I am looking forward to working on some individual projects in third year and learning new information to gain a greater insight into all aspects of mechanical engineering.
Once I graduate, I hope to gain employment within the engineering industry in a company focusing on particular aspects of mechanical engineering. But I haven’t decided what those particular aspects are just yet!
