Danielle Condon

My name is Danielle Condon and I am in my second year studying Accounting & Finance.

I chose this course at TUS because I really loved Accounting as a Leaving Cert subject and really wanted to pursue a career in the industry.

When I started at TUS I found the small class sizes really allowed for great engagement between the class and lecturers. The lecturers actually want to get to know us and we aren’t just a student number in the classroom. The online student portal, Moodle, makes all notes from lectures very accessible and easy to follow.

I love the variation in the different modules we take from Financial Management and Accounting to Economics, Marketing, and Law. It is not all just about numbers though because we do different assignments and presentations meaning it isn’t all exam-based.

The ISIT & Computerised Accounts module allows us to gain skills in both Sage Payroll and Sage Accounts. Every business uses some sort of software similar to Sage.

This courses also offers a lot of exemptions with Charted Accountant’s Ireland, for anyone who chooses to qualify as an Accountant which is really great.

I am based on the TUS Moylish campus in Limerick city which is great. The building itself isn’t that big and it’s very easy to navigate your way around with plenty of maps on display in the corridors. There are also three Starbucks cafés on the campus which are a great help when you need that caffeine boost!

Over the next couple of years I’m looking forward to continuing to meet new people and hopefully joining some of the different clubs or societies.

Once I graduate I hope to work in the industry in one of the leading accounting firms like Deloitte, EY, PwC, or KPMG, and qualify as an Accountant.
