My name is John Egan and I am in my first year studying Business Studies with Event Management.
I decided to pick this course because of the chance to graduate with a business degree, along with the amazing opportunities to become involved in the events industry. I also chosen this course because it has a variety of career paths in which I could go.
When I started first year, I thought I would feel lost and out of my depth, but within a week or two I really noticed that you’re not just another number on a piece of paper in TUS. The lecturers are amazing and the atmosphere in the college is really nice.
I really like how my course is not all lectures and reading and taking notes. It has a practical element also. I really enjoy doing the practical modules like Restaurant Service as it takes me away from the lecture setting. I also enjoy the opportunities we get to build our volunteering hours. It’s something different and enjoyable.
As well as my course, I really like the lecturers at TUS. I feel they are so nice and really honest with you. They will be there if you are struggling with anything and will happily do their best to help and make your life a lot easier.
I can’t wait for third year when we go on work placement for semester two. I am also looking forward to maybe studying aboard or to work at a major festival like Electric Picnic.
Once I graduate, I hope to work in the events industry. I’d like to have a key role in the organisation of the big festivals in Ireland.
